Elizabeth Rollins Epperly, PhD, was born in the United States but moved to Canada because of her love for the writing of Lucy Maud Montgomery. She was the first student to register at the newly created University of Prince Edward Island in 1969, and from 1995 to 1998 served as its first woman president. Dr. Epperly is the author of six books and dozens of articles, and has curated four Montgomery exhibitions. Founder and first Chair of the L.M. Montgomery Institute (LMMI), she serves on the board of the Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority and the International Advisory Board of the LMMI.
